His act he called "the biggest mistake in his political career" and stressed that the Netherlands deserve to be the Minister of foreign Affairs, "you can trust".
"I made the wrong choice, I shouldn't have to do this... I see no other option but to resign", – quoted by the Telegraaf words Zeilstra.
In an interview Volkskrant said that he had lied about his presence at the meeting with Putin at his dacha in 2006.
