In the capital of Ukraine, there is no serum against botulism and diphtheria. With respect to the availability of vaccines against diphtheria – it is sufficient for all age categories.
Serum against botulism, and diphtheria in Kiev, as before, no. This was at the briefing on Wednesday, 4 February, said the Director of the Department of health of Kyiv city state administration Valentina Ginzburg, writes UNIAN.
"As for the serum against botulism as a therapeutic drug, it is not, as against diphtheria. Provider we have the Ministry of health. When you were 10 cases of botulism in Kiev last year, the patients themselves bought. Unfortunately, this is the situation, and we can't influence it", – she noted.
Ginsburg, citing the Ministry of health said that in Ukraine there are antidiphtheritic serum, obtained as humanitarian aid.
"But in the field it is not directed, and to talk about her I can't," she said.
With regard to the prevention of botulism – Ginsburg advised to observe the rules of storage of food.
"Regarding the availability of vaccines against diphtheria – it is sufficient for all age categories. Already vaccinated more than 23 thousand people, among them 3 thousand adults. Flash not if everyone will be vaccinated", – she added.
Earlier, a well-known pediatrician Dr. Komorowski said that after the measles outbreak, Ukraine could face diphtheria.
Ministry of health called for the vaccination of children against diphtheria and re-vaccination of adults.
