"The Navy of Nigeria in a statement on 9 March announced the arrest of the tanker San Padre Pio from 16 Ukrainian sailors and about 5 thousand tons of cargo on Board for unauthorized entry into the waters of Nigeria and the illicit fuel trade", – stated in the message.
It is noted that the ship with 16 Ukrainian sailors were arrested on January 23, but this incident became known only in March. The tanker docked at the pier in Bonn (South-Eastern Nigeria).
The captain of the tanker Andrey Vaskov stated that the vessel had permission from the Nigerian Navy for shipment to Nigeria. According to him, this is their fifth entry into Nigerian port with oil.
